The International Center for Diplomacy Welcomes UN Security Council Resolution 2797 and Hails the Historic Royal Address Marking a New Era in the Consolidation of Morocco’s Sovereignty over the Sahara

The International Center for Diplomacy has welcomed the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, which was approved by a large majority and without opposition. The Center described the resolution as a historic milestone, reaffirming that the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative, within the framework of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, represents the realistic, pragmatic, and lasting solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

In a statement, the Center stressed that this resolution crowns the success of Morocco’s visionary and consistent diplomacy, conducted with wisdom and foresight under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and marks a shift from defense to consolidation and leadership in managing this long-standing issue.

The Center also paid tribute to the historic Royal Address delivered by His Majesty on this occasion, which opened with the Qur’anic verse: “Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory.”
This verse, the statement notes, symbolizes a double victory — diplomatic and spiritual — reflecting both the culmination of a long struggle and the beginning of a new era in the irreversible consolidation of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.

The statement further highlighted the symbolic coincidence between the adoption of the UN resolution and the 50th anniversary of the Green March, which unites two pivotal moments in Morocco’s modern history: the popular march of 1975, which led to the recovery of the southern provinces, and the diplomatic march of 2025, which seals international recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty.

According to the Center, this “Second Green March” extends the historic bond between the Throne and the People, laying the foundation for a modern, united, and prosperous Morocco, firmly anchored in its values and confidently oriented toward the future.

The statement also emphasized the fraternal appeal of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, addressed to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, calling for a sincere and constructive dialogue based on trust, cooperation, and good neighborliness. This gesture, the Center said, reflects Morocco’s unwavering commitment to peace and its conviction that the future of the Maghreb can only be built through unity and fraternity.

Furthermore, the Center commended His Majesty’s message to Moroccan citizens in the Tindouf camps, inviting them to return to their homeland in dignity and equality, and reaffirming that “all Moroccans are equal, with no distinction between those returning from Tindouf and those living within the homeland.”

By concluding His speech with the verse “Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful,” His Majesty, the statement noted, infused this historic moment with profound spiritual and moral significance, transforming political achievement into a victory of unity, wisdom, and faith.

The International Center for Diplomacy reaffirmed its full mobilization behind His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, in defending the Kingdom’s national cause, consolidating its diplomatic gains, and promoting a Morocco of peace, stability, and international influence.

Convinced that the question of the Moroccan Sahara embodies the unity, continuity, and sovereignty of the Kingdom, the Center reiterated its commitment to advancing Morocco’s legitimate position through parallel diplomacy and intellectual engagement, in line with the humanist and visionary approach of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him.
